Duties
A Police Inspector will be deployed on various duties, including supervisory and operational duties, covering all aspects of police work. He/she will be subject to discipline under the Police Force Ordinance and is required to work shifts and / or irregular hours and work in an area outside the HKSAR.
職責
督察需要執行多方面之警務工作，包括管理工作及行動職務，須遵守警隊條例有關紀律事宜的規定，並要穿著制服、輪班及／或不定時工作，亦可能要在香港特區境外範圍工作。
Terms of appointment
New recruits will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years, and may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
聘用條款

Requirements
- (a)(i) a Hong Kong Degree, or equivalent, with "Level 1" results in the two language papers ("Use of Chinese" and "Use of English") in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) (Notes 2 to 5) [Entry point: Police Pay Scale Point 26 ($56,575 per month) (Note 6)]; or
- (ii) a Hong Kong Degree, or a Higher Diploma from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university/ Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/ technical college, or an accredited Associate Degree from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or a Diploma from a registered post-secondary college awarded after the date of its registration, or equivalent, and Level 2 (Note 7) or above in Chinese and English language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; or have a pass result in the Chinese and English language tests for Police Inspector recruitment exercise (Note 2), or equivalent [Entry point : Police Pay Scale Point 25 ($54,655 per month)]; or
- (iii) A pass in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (2A) plus three other subjects at Grade C or above in the HKCEE (3O), or a combination of results in five HKDSEE subjects of Level 3 in New Senior Secondary (NSS) subjects, “Attained with Distinction” / "Attained with Distinction (I)" in Applied Learning (ApL) subjects (subject to a maximum of two ApL subjects) and Grade C in other language subjects, or equivalent, and Level 2 (Note 7) or above in Chinese and English language in HKDSEE or HKCEE or equivalent, or have a pass result in the Chinese and English language tests for Police Inspector recruitment exercise (Note 2) or equivalent. [Entry point : Police Pay Scale Point 24 ($53,055 per month)];
- (b) be able to read and write Chinese and speak fluent Cantonese;
- (c) pass a physical fitness test;
- (d) pass an eyesight test which includes a visual acuity test and a colour perception test. Applicants who wear glasses or contact lenses can also apply for the post. Applicants may perform visual acuity tests with the aid of eyesight correction tools except for colour perception tests;
- (e) must be permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
- (f) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (Note 8); and
- (g) pass a medical examination (including a urine drug test).
- (a)(i) 持本港大學學位，或同等學歷，並在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷（中文運用及英文運用）取得「一級」成績 (註 2 至 5) [入職薪點：警務人員薪級表第26點 (月薪56,575元)] (註 6)﹔或
- (ii) 持本港大學學位，或香港其中一間理工學院╱理工大學╱香港專業教育學院╱科技學院的高級文憑，或香港高等院校頒發並獲認可的副學士學位，或註冊專上學院註冊後所頒發的文憑，或同等學歷，及香港中學會考中國及英國語文科第2級 / E級 (註 7) ]或以上成績，或香港中學文憑考試中國及英國語文科第2級成績或以上，或同等學歷，或在遴選督察的筆試中，考獲中文及英文語文測驗合格 (註 2) [入職薪點：警務人員薪級表第25點 (月薪54,655元)]﹔或
- (iii) 香港高級程度會考兩科合格(高級程度)及香港中學會考其他三科C級或以上成績，或任何五個香港中學文憑科目成績[包括﹕新高中科目第3級成績，應用學習科目「達標並表現優異」/「達標並表現優異(I)」成績(應用學習科目最多計算兩科)，其他語言科目C級成績]，或同等學歷，及香港中學會考中國及英國語文科第2級 / E級 (註 7) 或以上成績，或香港中學文憑考試中國及英國語文科第2級成績或以上，或同等學歷，或在遴選督察的筆試中，考獲中文及英文語文測驗合格 (註 2) [入職薪點：警務人員薪級表第24點(月薪53,055元)]；
- (b) 能閱讀及書寫中文及操流利粵語；
- (c) 須通過體能測試；
- (d) 須通過視力測試，包括視覺敏銳度測試及色覺測試。而配戴眼鏡或隱形眼鏡的人士亦可申請。申請人可在配戴矯視工具的情況下進行視覺敏銳度測試，但不包括色覺測試；
- (e) 必須是香港特別行政區永久性居民；
- (f) 在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績 (註 8)；以及
- (g) 須通過體格檢驗 (包括尿液驗毒)。
