Duties
(a) To assist in liaison and holding of meetings with Mainland and overseas drug regulatory authorities for the control and testing of Chinese medicines;
(b) To be responsible for the assessment of applications of proprietary Chinese medicines (“pCm’) and to provide professional and technical support to matters relating to the registration of pCm;
(c) To be responsible for the assessment of applications for certificates for clinical trial and medicinal test for pCm and provide professional and technical support to related matters;
(d) To identify Chinese herbal medicines and assess their quality, and provide relevant professional support to subordinates;
(e) To assist in conducting research on Chinese herbal medicines, including research on the macro and microscopic identification, advanced pharmacognoistic techniques and produce reports;
(f) To conduct literature reviews on selected Chinese herbal medicines to evaluate the feasibility of establishing quality evaluation standards;
(g) To assist in the training and technology transfer work for Chinese medicines testing techniques;
(h) To conduct education and awareness programme on the enforcement, safety and quality standards of Chinese medicines;
(i) To assist in the planning and executing of research work on Chinese medicines resources;
(j) To assist in the operation of Chinese Medicines Herbarium and other laboratories of the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute;
(k) To undertake inspection, licensing, investigations, pharmacovigilance and other regulatory duties in respect of Chinese medicines; and
(l) To carry out any other duties as assigned by seniors.

職責
(a) 協助就規管中藥及中藥檢測方面與內地和海外藥品規管當局聯絡和舉行會議；
(b) 負責中成藥註冊的審核及提供相關的專業支援；
(c) 負責中成藥臨床證驗及藥物測試證明書的審核及提供相關的專業及技術支援;
(d) 鑒別中藥材及檢查其品質，及向下屬提供相關的專業支援；
(e) 協助進行中藥材研究，包括進行中藥材性狀和顯微鑒別、先進生藥學檢驗技術方面的研究並撰寫報告；
(f) 對選定的中藥材進行文獻綜述，評估建立品質評估標準的可行性;
(g) 協助進行中藥檢測技術的培訓及技術轉移工作；
(h) 進行中藥材安全和品質標準的教育和宣傳工作；
(i) 協助規劃及執行中藥資源研究工作；
(j) 協助營運政府中藥檢測中心轄下各實驗室及中藥標本館;
(k) 執行與中藥有關的巡查、發牌、調查、藥物警戒及規管有關的職務；及
(l) 負責上司指派的其他職責。

Terms of appointment
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Department and the performance of the candidate.
聘用條款
成功的申請人將按非公務員合約條款聘任。續約與否視乎屆時本部門的服務需要及受聘人的工作表現而定。
Benefits
Candidates appointed are eligible for 14 days’ paid annual leave per year. Other benefits such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave/ paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57).

How to apply
The application period for the position of Assistant Chinese Medicine Officer is from 18 September 2026 (Friday) to 1 October 2026 (Thursday).
Applicants must apply online through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau (https://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications which are incomplete or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail will not be accepted. All applicants should provide relevant documents in support of their (a) qualification; and (b) working experiences (if applicable) to the designated e-mail address (
[email protected]) within one week after the submission of on-line application. The title of the post being applied for and the on-line application number should be quoted in the e-mail and copies of the supporting documents.
If candidates fail to provide the supporting documents as required, their applications will not be considered. Applicants should provide their e-mail addresses on the application forms. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by e-mail in about six to eight weeks after the application is received. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
